Preheat oven to 350°.
In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter on medium heat. Add the finely chopped garlic to butter, stirring occasionally until fragrant. Pour the mixture into a small bowl and set aside.
Melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter in the microwave. Line a cookie sheet with either parchment paper or aluminum foil, and brush a thin layer of butter onto the sheet.
Lay the salmon on the cookie sheet. Pour the olive oil onto the salmon, gently massaging it into the fish. Sprinkle liberally with 1 teaspoon of salt, or more according to personal preference.
Take the remaining melted butter, and spread generously over the fish. Season generously with the remaining 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. If you would like to add any other seasonings, such as all-purpose seasoning or truffle zest, you can do so as well.
Bake the salmon at 350° for about 12 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillet — the rule of thumb is about 4-6 minutes per ½ inch of salmon. I generally use a fairly thin fillet to avoid drying out the fish.
After the 12-minute mark (or more, depending on the thickness of your fish), remove the fish from the oven and spoon the butter garlic sauce on top of the salmon, and then. Set your oven to Broil (either High or Low is fine), return the salmon to the oven, and cook for another 2 minutes.
